Alicia studied International Politics with a minor in Art at Peking University on a Beijing Government Scholarship. Unexpectedly, she found compelling stories to share and discovered that stories come to her when she travels. She began writing as a student contributor to Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore’s Chinese-language newspaper. In 2013, she won second place in the 2nd China Original Short Musical Script Competition.

After working in Singapore’s private and public sectors for five years, she travelled across East Asia before finding herself in Japan.

  • Inspired by her four-year stay in Okinawa, her debut collection of short stories and poems, Echoes from an Island, was published in 2023.

  • Her second book, a full-length poetry collection titled Heart Gap, was released in 2025.

  • At the WoW Tokyo Conference 2025, she initiated and co-hosted a Women in Leadership Luncheon shaped around a roundtable conversation-based menu format.

  • In 2026, in celebration of SJ60 and International Women’s Day, she expanded the roundtable format to host 60 attendees and introduced a mini charity bazaar led by the wife of the Singapore Ambassador to Japan. Details here.
